On Monday morning in San Francisco Steve Jobs made the announcement: iPhone 4.
In brief:
• iPhone 4 announced.
• Black and white colours, US$199 for 16GB, US$299 for 32GB. 3GS is now US$99.
• On sale in the US and "four other countries" 24 June, preorders 15 June. 88 countries by September. Australia set for "July 2010".
• Stainless steel and glass, 9.3mm thin.
• 3.5-inch, 960x640, 326ppi, IPS screen.
• A4 processor, up to 32GB storage, quad band HSPA, microsim. There's a three axis gyroscope inside too.

• Battery: 7 hours of talk time, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, and 300 hours of standby.
• iPhone OS renamed to iOS. iOS 4 announced — free for iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch users (except first gen) on June 21. Will support multitasking, organising apps into folders, unified inbox.
• 5MP camera with LED flash on the back, back-side illuminated sensor and tap-to-focus functionality. Front mounted camera as well.
• Can make video calls with a feature called "FaceTime". Wi-Fi only for now — Apple intends for it to be an open industry standard.
• 720p, 30fps video recording with geolocation support. Edit your movies in-phone with iMovie.
• Bing and Yahoo join Google as available search engines.
• iBooks is now on the iPhone. Will read PDFs. Download the same book to all your Apple devices at no extra charge. will automatically and wirelessly sync your current place, bookmarks, and notes across all your devices.
• Netflix "on the iPhone this summer". Likely this will be US only.
• Accessories: Apple has created a dock, and its own "bumper" case, each for US$29.
